What does this story help with?

  • understanding what happens at airport security
  • preparing for trays, scanners, and waiting in line
  • learning calming strategies for the process
  • building confidence before travelling

I can feel a little nervous when I’m going through airport security, and that is okay

I can prepare myself by wearing comfortable clothes and use headphones if sounds are too loud

I can take my teddy
with me

I can also try to stay in the line patiently. If I feel anxious or confused, I can take deep breaths or listen to music

When it’s my turn, I can try to follow instructions like emptying my water bottle, keeping my phone, belt and jacket in the tray

I can follow what security staff says because they are helping keep me safe.

I  can ask them if I find anything confusing

This will be over soon and then we will go to the lounge to wait for our flight
