What does this story help with?

  • understanding that people can like different things
  • reducing feelings of rejection or confusion
  • building flexibility in social situations
  • encouraging confidence and inclusion with peers

Sometimes when I’m with other people, they may like to do different things

Let's play tag
But I want to
play football

Sometimes I may think, If they don’t like my game or don’t want to talk about my topic, they don’t like me or they are upset with me

They are NOT upset with me

I can remember, saying "no" does not mean they are angry

They still like me

People like different things, and conversations can change too

That's OK

I can remember to say, “Okay, let’s try your game”

Let's play tag first, then we can play football

Friends can play together sometimes and play different things at other times, and we can take turns

We can all have fun together
